Session description:

Join a 30-minute virtual learning session moderated by Manufacturing BC about promising practices for disability inclusion in the workplace, followed by a Focus Group of manufacturing businesses that consider themselves disability inclusive with Social Research Demonstration Corporation as part of the New Inclusive Economy project. www.newinclusiveeconomy.ca

Presenters

Presenters include Inclusion Powell River’s Director of Social Economy and Other Cool Stuff Leni Goggins and a self-advocate who works at OneLight, a fire starter manufacturer.


Presenter bios:

Leni Goggins is Director of Social Economy and Other Cool Stuff with Inclusion Powell River Society located in the qathet region, the traditional and treaty territory of the Tla’amin Nation.

She is a project manager for the New Inclusive Economy, and co-leads three inclusive employment focused social enterprises including OneLight fire starter, Kindred ReBuild store and Diversa Collective, a production company lead by entrepreneurs with disabilities.

She combines 20 years of experience working with people with disabilities, seniors and youth with her project management work with non-profit and for-profit enterprises in the manufacturing sector.


Focus Group Information

The focus group will be approximately 90 minutes long and take place over Zoom. While sessions will be recorded by SRDC researchers for note-taking purposes, the information you share will not be linked to you or your organization. Only researchers involved with this project will have access to the recording.

To recognize individuals’ contributions to the research, each participant will receive a $100 e-transfer following the focus group. To receive this honorarium participants will be required to their contact information (name and email).

*Note: this event is exclusive to any employer that have experience hiring people with disabilities and other conditions. Only eligible employers will be contacted.
